Are you ready for the number one way stop cigarettes tip?

You need to set stop smoking as a goal. It must be a smart goal, which is specfic, measureable, achievable, realistic, and timebased.

You need to be specific: I want to stop using cigarettes

Your goals needs to be measurable: not smoking

Your goals needs to be achievable

realistic- Is it really possible just to stop smoking in a day without no preparation. A better goal would be 2 weeks.

Your goal needs to be time based: I will stop smoking in 2 weeks

After you set your goal, then you need develop a plan. Remember failure to plan, is planning to fail.

Why do you need to quit, because of my daughter or other loves ones

Who can help you with this goal: friends and family.

How will you accomplish this goal:

What methods will you use: nicotine replacement therapy or NRT, or stop smoking cold turkey

Are you going to read any books: I recommend Alan Carr easyway to quit smoking

Also do a google image search for the effects of smoking

How much money will you save? Most people spend Just think what you can do with all that money. The more detailed your plan, the better off you are. Keep asking questions, the better your plan will be

Finding the right auto loan for you

When you buy a car, the two things the dealer is going to show you:

  1. Most likely the most expensive cars in your price range

  2. The financing to purchase the car

When the dealer shows you the financing package it would be based on how much you put down and your credit score. The more you put down the lower the interest rate (because the dealer is taking less of a risk). The higher your credit score, the lower your interest rate as well. At one time my credit score was bad and I had to pay 29 percent interest.

When you choose the financing package offered to you, you want to make sure that you can afford it. The higher amount of money you put down the lower your monthly payment would be. The longer of a time period you have to pay it off, the lower the payment. The higher your credit score, the lower the monthly payment would be.

Another tactic is to negotiate the loan. Just like buying a car, try to stretch out the loan payment or the interest on the deal. You always wanted to start off at a lower number that makes you look serious. For example, on the 29 percent interest, I probably should start off at 20 percent work my way up to what the lender wanted.

Another tactic, is to refinance to a lower interest rate in about 6 months to a year, only if you are making on time payments.You can always go to another lender or through your bank. The next lender wins because you are showing you can pay it on time, without any trouble and plus, you would pay off some of the principal.

No matter what interest payment is the most important factor is being able to afford it, now

What is a SMART goal

A smart goal is an acronym for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time base

Specific: I want a lot of money is not good goal, because it is not specific. A better goal would be I want a Million dollars, because it is specific

Measurable: I want to lose weight, is not measurable, a better goal would be I want to lose 10 pounds

Realistic: Is it really possible to drop 100 pounds in a day? If you lose too much weight at once, I would go see the doctor. Also people who do not have that much weight to lose will find it harder to lose weight compared to somebody who needs to lose 100 pounds.

Time Based: I want a million dollars or I want to lose 15 pounds is a great goal, but it needs a time. Otherwise you might lose that 15 pounds, in 30 years from now (while you gain another 30 pounds). You want to write 15 pounds in 6 months or something to that effect

4 basic steps to start a budget

Are you one of the many people trying to develop a budget that works. Especially with kids, having a budget is hard work.

Here are the 4 basic steps to start a budget

  1. The first thing you want to do is keep track of where all your money is going. You would want to save your receipts. You would want to separate in house, food, eating out, miscellaneous, cigarettes (if you smoke), clothes, kids, electric, and so fourth

  2. Then you would want to cut back on the items that you do not need, which is also known as the the latte factor ( For more info see What is Latte factor). What you definitely do not need is cigarettes for example.

  3. Stick to it: if it is not in the budget, then do not get it. Make sure you plan ahead. If you want to take a vacation plan for that in each paycheck

  4. Use the envelope system instead of using your debit or credit card. What you do is mark the envelopes as rent, groceries, eat out, clothes, etc, then you put a portion of each paycheck into the envelope. Make sure you use cash in the envelope, and make sure nobody can find it, or it is not in plain sight.

Ford foundation study of Goals


The Ford foundation recently did a study of goals

They found that:

23 percent of the population does not have any idea what that want in life

67 percent of the population has broad idea of what they want, but does not have any plans to achieve that goal

10 percent of the population knows what they want, but only achieve their goals 50 percent of the time.

The top 3 percent knows what they want to achieve and achieve their goals 89 percent of the time. So what the difference between the 3 percent and the 10 percent.

The answer is the 3 percent has well written goals using the SMART formula
