Cutting back on cigarettes gradually
Posted by: | CommentsCutting back cigarettes gradually is one of the best techniques to quit smoking.
With this method, you open your cigarette pack, then throw one away. Then the next day or week, throw 2 cigarettes away. Before long you will be a non smoker. Of course, you do not have to throw a cigarette away, but it makes it a lot easier.
For example: if you smoke a pack in 24 hour period, throw one away. Pretty soon you be down to 0. Do not go out and buy another pack or cigarette, you want go from 20 to 19 to 18, etc
When you to a certain amount of cigarettes, buy a single stick cigarette, these are often cost 75 cents, and when you spoke 5 single stick cigarettes is a lot better than buying the whole back, because I feel guilty and want to smoke the whole pack.
Another tip is to switch brands that is harsh instead of smoking favorite brand. I would not want to smoke a lot of cigarettes that I do not like
Important points to remember:
- When you throw a cigarette away, do not buy another pack and smoke the other cigarette. This will defeat the purpose.
- Use other quit smoking tactics and tips: like patches, gum, other quit smoking aids
- Do not think of money that you are throwing away, think of as saving money by becoming future non smoker
- Stay away from bars and other places where you smoke a lot.
This method is a lot better than cold turkey method, where you just give it up completely. So start cutting back your smokes gradually
